Default Very Low FPS

Hello,

I've played GW since it's release 2 years ago, and have never experienced low FPS - all video options on high, and ive never,ever been below 30 FPS. However, since I bought EotN yesterday, my FPS is regularly 10-15.. (15 @ best, usually hovers at 10 though), and pretty much a slideshow in towns (all this happening in EotN).

My specs are:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor
3200+
2.01GHz, 1GB of RAM
Radeon 9800 PRO

Now as you can see, my computer far exceeds the recommended specs, and I don't think I should have to lower the video options to get a playable FPS, when it's been fine for the past 2 years.

Has anyone else had this problem and managed to solve it?

Thanks for any ideas/input!

Hi, my response isn't very helpful but I only want to say that I have this problem too. On top of that my computer also freezes and throws a bluescreen.. I haven't been able to find out what's causing this yet :/

Eye of the North is more taxing on computer ressources than the previous campaigns. They upgraded the game engine, boosted the graphics. There is also some issues with some intel chipsets as well as some other video cards which should get fixed eventually.

Also which GW did you play, prophecies, factions, nightfall or all 3? Nightfall was also more demanding on video cards than factions or prophecies were.

As for finding out if your problem is related to your video setting, try lowering them to see if it make a difference.

These are the recommended specs for eye of the north:
* Windows XP/2000/Vista
* Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or equivalent
* 1 GB RAM
* DVD-ROM Drive
* 4 GB Available HDD Space
* ATI Radeon 9600 or NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 series video card or above
* 16-bit Sound Card
* Internet connection
* Keyboard and mouse
* DirectX 9

To Foxiel, what are your computer's specs?

I've played all 3 GW - I understand that in EotN there are upgraded graphics, but my PC should definitely still be able to cope - 5-10 FPS isn't acceptable..
i've done everything I can think of, defragged hard-drive, deleted all non-needed programs etc etc, and my FPS hasn't risen at all.. this makes me think its down ANet's end, and just hope they solve the problem.

Thanks for any input guys, cheers

I nearly tripled my frame rate by disabling vertical sync in-game while making no other changes to my setup. Also, make sure that your video card drivers are not forcing maximum anisotropic filtering for Guildwars.
